Aun as\u00ed, sigue siendo un reto sustituir el cobre de forma rentable en ciertos sectores, como los veh\u00edculos comerciales o el ferrocarril. Adem\u00e1s, la necesidad de reducir las emisiones generadas por los frenos hace que el desaf\u00edo sea todav\u00eda mayor.  <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En este art\u00edculo analizamos los avances m\u00e1s prometedores en la sustituci\u00f3n del cobre por materiales innovadores, especialmente \u00f3xidos, con el objetivo de desarrollar compuestos de fricci\u00f3n sostenibles y de alto rendimiento. Los materiales de fricci\u00f3n son sistemas complejos en los que los procesos tribol\u00f3gicos que se producen en la superficie de contacto entre la pastilla y el disco son fundamentales para su rendimiento. Durante el frenado, se forman los llamados \u00abplat\u00f3s secundarios\u00bb, que juegan un papel clave en el control del rozamiento y el desgaste. Estructuras prefabricadas de \u00f3xido de hierro, dise\u00f1adas para imitar la morfolog\u00eda de estos plat\u00f3s, podr\u00edan convertirse en una alternativa viable a los materiales con base de cobre.   <\/span><\/p><h2>Los retos de sustituir el cobre<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reemplazar el cobre en los materiales de fricci\u00f3n no es tarea f\u00e1cil. Es necesario encontrar materiales alternativos que igualen o incluso superen el rendimiento del cobre en aspectos clave como: <\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estabilidad del coeficiente de fricci\u00f3n: Mantener un nivel constante de fricci\u00f3n en un amplio rango de temperaturas y condiciones de funcionamiento.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resistencia al desgaste: Proteger tanto la pastilla como el disco de freno frente a un desgaste excesivo que pueda comprometer su durabilidad.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Control del ruido y las vibraciones: Reducir al m\u00ednimo la generaci\u00f3n de ruidos y vibraciones durante la frenada, mejorando el confort y la experiencia de conducci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disipaci\u00f3n del calor: Transferir eficazmente el calor lejos de la superficie de fricci\u00f3n para evitar el temido \u201cfading\u201d o p\u00e9rdida de eficacia del freno por sobrecalentamiento.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h3> <\/h3><h2>\u00d3xidos: una soluci\u00f3n prometedora<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los \u00f3xidos se est\u00e1n posicionando como una clase de materiales muy prometedora para sustituir al cobre en los compuestos de fricci\u00f3n. Nuestra investigaci\u00f3n se centra en identificar y optimizar compuestos de \u00f3xidos capaces de igualar o superar el rendimiento del cobre, <b>minimizando al mismo tiempo el impacto medioambiental y reduciendo al m\u00e1ximo la huella de carbono<\/b>. <\/p><p>El resultado de este esfuerzo es la familia r0-vein. Este material est\u00e1 compuesto principalmente por \u00f3xidos de hierro y se caracteriza por una morfolog\u00eda \u00fanica. Las im\u00e1genes obtenidas mediante microscop\u00eda electr\u00f3nica de barrido (SEM) muestran que los materiales LS presentan estructuras delgadas, en forma de l\u00e1minas y dispuestas en capas, muy similares a los plat\u00f3s secundarios que se observan en las superficies desgastadas de las pastillas de freno. El resto de la formulaci\u00f3n se ha mantenido constante. A la izquierda se muestra la composici\u00f3n:  <\/p><p><strong>Rendimiento de la fricci\u00f3n<\/strong><br>Los perfiles de fricci\u00f3n GSR de la formulaci\u00f3n base (con lat\u00f3n) y de la formulaci\u00f3n IP01 (sin cobre) mostraron una buena correlaci\u00f3n.
