Photovoltaic self-consumption in rimsa

For rimsa, sustainability is one of the factors we pursue. That is why, together with Enertika, we decided to promote photovoltaic self-consumption, with the installation of 196 solar panels from the manufacturer Trinasolar (TIER1) on the roof of the rimsa factory and mounted on a coplanar structure.

The photovoltaic project has a peak power of 68.6kWp, with a guaranteed annual production of 94,000 kWh, a specific production of 1,360 kWh / kWp and a performance ratio of 81.7%.

Regarding the total electricity consumption of the factory, the renewable production, last year, represented a coverage of 7.47%, avoiding the emission of more than 22 tons of CO2. Likewise, surpluses of photovoltaic energy on weekends are compensated thanks to the “Self-consumption with surpluses” regime. This means that it is not limited to supplying electricity for self-consumption, and discharges the surplus into the distribution and transport networks.

The photovoltaic installation and the energy connections (electricity and natural gas) are managed from the Wattabit monitoring platform, which offers solutions for the energy management of assets in multiple locations, and allows all energy consumption and costs to be visible, with the objective to generate savings and facilitate decision-making.

Centralizing data at a single point and having information in real time (every 15 minutes) allows RIMSA and Enertika to control the proper functioning of the facilities and establish roadmaps for continuous improvement. Likewise, this digitization allows the monitoring of consumption: knowing the accumulated electricity consumption throughout the day, and also the consumption at a specific moment of the day.

All these mechanisms involve an exhaustive analysis of electrical management, since it is possible to monitor the industry, detect excess power, identify vampire consumption, monitor KPIs and detect deviations, generate alerts when anomalies are detected, and automatic reports of the photovoltaic installation.

With this project, we have the opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the environment with energy self-sufficiency. In addition, it is an initiative that causes savings due to efficiency and energy management.
