The Commission invites anyone interested in the EU’s research and innovation priorities, anywhere in the world, to participate in the consultation, which will close on 18 September 2020.

The EU’s next research and innovation program, Horizon Europe, which will strengthen the EU’s scientific and technological foundations and boost its innovation capacity, is expected to be launched in 2021. Regarding the first Horizon strategic plan Europe, subject to the agreement between the European Parliament and the Council on the EU’s long-term budget (2021-27) and its related horizontal provisions, will be ready by the end of 2020.

The information received through the survey launched will support the implementation of Horizon Europe, especially for the second pillar of the program, which responds to the heading ‘Global challenges and European industrial competitiveness’.

It will also help align research and innovation priorities with EU political priorities, such as solutions for a sustainable future. In this line the celebration of the European Virtual Research and Innovation Days is framed, which will take place from September 22 to 24 and during which the results of the survey will be discussed.
