RIMSA at 46 GEE-RSEQ: Bringing industrial electrochemistry closer to the talent of the future

From July 7 to 10, 2026, Barcelona hosted the XLVI Meeting of the Electrochemistry Specialized Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (46 GEE-RSEQ), a benchmark event that returned to the city after 24 years to debate new sustainability models. As part of our strategic commitment to innovation, at RIMSA, we actively supported this meeting as official sponsors.

Our commitment to electrochemistry: a commitment to the present and future

For RIMSA, electrochemistry represents a fundamental pillar of growth for scaling the European value chain. Faced with the enormous challenge of the energy transition, we are applying our deep knowledge to develop New Active Materials (CAM and AAM) for lithium-ion batteries. Through our Joint Venture, Innovamat Srl, and together with our partner Quartz Srl, specialists in solid-state synthesis materials, we work on the exploitation and industrial scaling of these advanced compounds, with the goal of strengthening the continent’s energy autonomy.

The private sector's vision in an eminently academic environment

For disruptive projects like those we promote through our JV to succeed, the connection between academic excellence and industrial reality is vital. For this reason, the congress kicked off on Tuesday, July 7, with the inaugural round table “Trajectories in Electrochemistry and professional perspectives”, aimed at master’s students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers.

In this forum, Roger Oriol participated on behalf of RIMSA, among other professionals from the non-academic environment, coming from benchmark companies, technology centers, and spin-offs such as Eurecat!, Leitat, IREC, Fuelium, and Electroseek. From this plural experience oriented toward technology transfer, the immense value of having transversal profiles was highlighted. Researchers capable of understanding not only material science and inorganic powders but how to make electrochemical reactions efficient, scalable, and applicable to urgent market needs.

Innovation is born and nurtured in academia, but the non-academic ecosystem is the great accelerator needed for those advances to impact society globally. At RIMSA, we continue working to be that bridge between research rigor and real technological solutions.
