RIMSA's concrete reinforcing fibers are steel, polymer and glass fibers that are added to the mix during batching and spread throughout its volume. The result is fiber reinforced concrete that is tougher, more durable and better at controlling cracking, which in many applications makes it possible to reduce or replace welded wire mesh and conventional reinforcement, saving cost and time on site. Our range of concrete fiber additives adapts to the requirements of each project: industrial floors, slabs, shotcrete, tunnels and precast elements.
Each type solves a different need. Choose according to the loads, the environment and the finish your project requires.

Concrete fibers are discrete elements of steel, polymer or glass that are added to the mix during batching and distributed three-dimensionally throughout the volume. Their function is to control cracking and to provide residual load-bearing capacity once the concrete has cracked, something plain concrete does not have. Depending on the type and dosage, they make it possible to reduce or replace traditional reinforcement, improve toughness and increase impact and fatigue resistance.
Steel fibers provide the highest structural capacity and are the choice when the aim is to replace conventional reinforcement. Polymer fibers cover a wider range of performance: microfibers control plastic shrinkage cracking in the first hours, and macrofibers provide residual strength with lower weight and no risk of corrosion. Glass fibers are used where non-metallic reinforcement and a clean surface finish are required. The choice depends on the loads, the environment and the required finish.
In many applications they can, and it is one of the main reasons to use them: industrial floors, slabs, shotcrete and precast elements can be designed with fibers as the only reinforcement, eliminating the cost of placing mesh and the problems of positioning it on site. In structural elements with significant bending loads, a combined solution is usual. Replacement must always be justified by calculation, based on the residual strength of the fiber reinforced concrete.
Fibers are added directly into the mixer or the truck mixer drum, always at a controlled dosage and with enough mixing time to achieve a uniform distribution and avoid fiber balling. The dosage is expressed in kg/m³ and varies with the type of fiber and the required performance.
